weaving dreams one page at a time

i've finally decided to take the plunge and take an online course at the local college for dreamweaver. i've been able to tinker with sites to higher degree than the general population, but i really want to design, impress and wow people with something i've made. till now sites i've done lack a certain je ne sais quoi and have been quite utilitarian.
the class however is very slow moving. it's a 6week long course, with two lessons each week. this is just the third week, but i really thought halfway through i'd be able to do more than insert pictures & format text - all of which i was able to do prior to the class.
in fact i am learning way more from my dreamweaver CS3 for dummies book than the class. not to mention it isn't led my a pretentious jack ass who over explains simple things while NOT explaining anything more difficult - not that we've even covered anything difficult yet, but when it takes an entire chapter to explain previewing your page, i can see it coming. i feel like there should have been an intermediate class that required some sort of skill test to access your abilities, thus not grouping people who've never heard of different browsers (and who ask questions like "will it void my Windows warranty if i install this 'firefox' thing?") with people who know the basics and really are there to learn dreamweaver.

whew - that felt good. i've been feeling like i rode the short bus to this class so far.
